Mesothelioma support group members to benefit from piano music
- AuthorGraeme Chisholm
Studies have shown that music can offer significant therapeutic benefits to ease symptoms and the adverse side effects of medical treatment.
Music can help reduce anxiety, depression, feelings of pain and discomfort and can help people relax and feel more engaged with their treatment and therapy plans.
That’s why it’s great news that members of the Guy’s and St. Thomas’ (GSTT) Mesothelioma Support Group, which helps people and their families who’ve been affected by asbestos-related disease, are set to benefit with the purchase of a brand new piano at Guy’s Cancer Centre in London.
The group has been able to buy the piano thanks to the fundraising efforts of supporters from the legal profession participating in cake sales and other events to raise enough money to make the purchase.
To celebrate the arrival of the new piano, the GSTT Mesothelioma Support Group is hosting a piano recital this evening (Friday 21 September) at Guy’s Cancer Centre.
Headlining the recital will be the widely acclaimed singer-songwriter and producer, Astraea whose self-produced cover of the 90s dance classic ‘You’re Not Alone’ is currently being featured in the latest TV commercial for Lloyds bank.
With two other excellent musicians kindly agreeing to donate their time and talent, the event promises to be a very enjoyable evening.
Novum Law is delighted to be sponsoring the drinks and canapes being served at the recital. We are very much looking forward to the event and hearing how introducing beautiful piano music to the Centre benefits people with mesothelioma and their family members.
The piano recital takes place tonight (Friday 21 September) at 18:00pm at Guy’s Cancer Care Centre, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Francis House, 9 King’s Head Yard, London SE1 1 NA.
