With over 34 years post qualification experience in complex Personal Injury and Medical Negligence cases, Neil is one of the founders and also most senior lawyers in the specialist personal injury law firm Novum Law. He is highly regarded by both clients and colleagues and is nationally recognised as a leading specialist in Personal Injury litigation. During the course of his career Neil has dealt with many high profile cases for both adults and children, frequently involving unusually complex issues and substantial awards of damages.
Neil’s practice is nationwide although the majority of his clients live in the South and South West of England and in London. He is frequently asked by clients to take over cases from other solicitors, often upon direct recommendation to him. He has a reputation for consistently securing exceptionally high awards of damages through the meticulous preparation of the cases which he and his team deal with – often in far shorter timescales than would normally be expected in complex cases.
Acting only for Claimants, Neil has extensive experience of dealing with many contested damages cases resulting in multi-million pound awards. He has personally dealt awards of damages in Head Injury cases of up to £14 million, Medical Negligence cases of up to £10.4 million and Spinal Injury cases of up to £12 million.
In addition to his litigation work, Neil is frequently appointed by the Court of Protection to act as a Professional Deputy in cases involving clients with severe head injuries who lack the mental capacity to conduct their own affairs.
Neil and his team place a strong emphasis upon developing close working relationships with clients and their families. He has a commitment to securing early rehabilitation for his clients and also to the importance of comprehensive therapeutic intervention in relation to both their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Working regularly with leading national experts, Neil has extensive experience of assembling and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams of experts and health professionals during the preparation and progression of complex claims for damages.
In a complex Medical Negligence case which resulted in a nationally recognised award of damages:
“We were so lucky to have been able to have Neil as my husband’s solicitor. His attention to detail and his care throughout the case were amazing. I cannot thank him enough for both his professionalism and for his kindness and sensitivity to my husband and our family”.
From a mother of a young client in a head injury case in which damages exceeded £5 million:
“I was hugely impressed throughout the case by the depth of Neil’s medical knowledge and his clear understanding of all the issues. The result far exceeded our expectations has changed my son’s life. I will be forever grateful to Neil and his team”.
From the wife of a client in a head injury case arising from a road traffic accident:
“Before we met Neil three different solicitors had looked at my husband’s case and had told us a claim would not succeed. Neil was fantastic from the outset. His knowledge was amazing and he was so caring and reassuring throughout the case. Even though the case was contested, we won. As a result my husband’s future care and support are now guaranteed and we can get on with our lives. I would have no hesitation recommending Neil and his team”.
From a client in a current case who has a serious spinal injury:
“I know that my life will never be the same after my accident but I cannot thank you enough for all that you have done for me. You have been so kind and understanding and have really helped me to believe that my future life, although different, can be every bit as successful as the one which my accident took away”.
