When you go to a personal injury or medical negligence solicitor for help, the last thing you expect is poor advice or bad service.
While most solicitors provide a good service and sound advice, there are some whose service falls short.
If your current law firm is not giving you the service and support you need during your personal injury, medical negligence or asbestos compensation claim, you are completely entitled to change solicitors.
8 reasons why you may want to switch to a different law firm, such as:
- You have concerns about the lack of progress on your claim
- You are worried the value of your claim has been underestimated and may not cover your rehabilitation or future care costs
- Your solicitor has not grasped the severity of your injury
- Important deadlines are being missed or there is a lack of attention to detail
- Your solicitor is failing to keep you up to date on developments
- You are concerned you may not be getting the right expert advice
- You feel as though you are being rushed into accepting an early offer to settle
- You do not feel comfortable with your current law firm and do not trust them to properly handle your claim
At Novum Law we are often asked if we can take over claims from other law firms. We have a strong track record of taking over significant personal injury, medical negligence or asbestos claims from other firms of solicitors and achieving a substantially higher level of compensation than the initial amount suggested.
Earlier this year, we secured a £10 million settlement for a man who suffered serious, life-changing injuries after a road traffic accident. This was a claim we took over after his previous solicitors failed to make any real progress and significantly underestimated the compensation owed. Novum Law’s specialist team turned the case around and secured damages five times the amount originally estimated at his previous solicitor firm.
If you or a loved one is considering changing solicitors during a compensation claim, contact one of our specialist solicitors in Bristol, Cardiff, the Isle of Wight, Plymouth, Salisbury, Southampton or Swindon and we would be happy to help.

How to change your Law Firm
If you are unhappy with your current solicitors and feel that the service you are receiving does not meet your needs, you may be able to switch to another law firm.
Understandably, you and your family may feel let down by the first personal injury, medical negligence or asbestos-related disease law firm you put all your trust in. It can be difficult to admit defeat and to approach another solicitor. Perhaps you feel wary about re-starting the process or are worried about delaying things further.
However, if you do not seek a second opinion and get expert help from another law firm, you could be left out of pocket and forced to accept a significantly lower level of damages that may not cover your medical care and rehabilitation needs now and into the future.
If you are thinking of making the switch to different solicitors, it is important to act quickly. There are strict time limitation periods which apply to personal injury claims and you must act within a certain timeframe or risk not being allowed to make a claim.
What is the process of changing law firm
The process of changing your personal injury law firm to Novum Law is straightforward and you should contact us for an initial chat. If we take on your claim, we will send you a form of authority to allow your file to be transferred to us directly. Once you return the form of authority, we will take care of everything else.
At Novum Law, we offer a free, ‘no strings attached’ review of your compensation claim and can provide an expert second opinion on the best possible outcome for your case. We also provide ‘No Win No Fee’ claims, so that there is no financial risk in the unlikely event your claim is unsuccessful.
We will work hard to turn your claim around by thoroughly investigating what happened to you and identifying the person or organisation responsible for your injury. Some evidence may already have been gathered by your former solicitors, but we will review this and obtain further evidence including expert medical opinions to support your claim.
We are also committed to securing early interim payments before your claim has settled, so that you can benefit from the best possible rehabilitation and care to help you on you road to recovery.
What to do if you feel your claim was under settled
