What our Southampton clients say about us:
“We can’t thank Alison enough for her hard work and dedication to our case, especially being such a sensitive matter to our family. She was professional and understanding at the same time. Thank you.”
“What is most important to us is not the compensation, as no amount of money can ever replace our father, but that as a result of what happened to dad a body of evidence has been created and if dad’s circumstances can help another family that would bring us some comfort.”
“My mum and I would really like to thank Alison for all her hard work on our behalf. She guided us through a claim that required so much time and research that we would never have been able to do on our own. She was particularly sensitive to mums needs at such a sad time. I can’t thank her enough.”
“Alison at Novum Law kept me well informed at every stage and dealt with the case in a compassionate, considerate manner even when the coronavirus pandemic changed our whole way of working and managing our affairs. The whole family are grateful for the support throughout what was a difficult time.”

How do I make a personal injury compensation claim?
Book a free initial chat with our expert personal injury solicitors
We offer a free initial chat with one of our expert lawyers to start the claims process. Your free consultation will allow you to talk about what happened to you and the impact your injury has had on your life.
We will then advise if you will be able to make a successful personal injury claim and the level of compensation we may secure. We will also explain the claims process in more detail and how it works, and the next steps.
Is there a time limit for making a personal injury compensation claim?
The standard time limit is 3 years from the date of your accident or injury or the date you realised you had suffered an injury or illness and someone else was to blame.
There are exceptions to the 3-year rule:
- If you are claiming on behalf of a child, you have until they are 18 to bring a claim. When your child reaches 18, they can bring their own claim until their 21st birthday.
- If you are claiming on behalf of someone who doesn’t have the mental capacity to make their own decisions (for example, due to a severe brain injury or learning difficulties), there is no time limit to make a personal injury claim.
Will I have to go to court for my injury claim?
Our personal injury solicitors in Southampton settle most cases through negotiation with the other side (the defendant) and their legal team, and you will not have to go to court. Taking this approach allows us to get maximum compensation. Occasionally, cases go to court if the defendant or their insurer does not accept liability for your injury or do not agree with the compensation value. If your case must go to court, our expert solicitors will support you every step of the way throughout the compensation process and make sure you are fully informed.
I’m unhappy with my solicitor, can I transfer my personal injury claim to Novum Law?
Our team often hears from people who have started a claim with another firm and are unhappy with the results. This may be because the claims process is taking too long, they are dissatisfied with the service provided, or they are not happy with the amount of compensation secured.
Our personal injury lawyers in Southampton are always happy to provide an independent second opinion, and we have successfully taken over personal injury claims from other firms. Our expert team can often get higher settlements and secure compensation faster.
