Serious Brain Injury Case Study

Mr G sustained a serious brain injury as a result of an accident when he was aged just 21. He was riding his motorcycle along the road in central London when a taxi driver carried out a U-turn in front of him. As a result, he sustained a very severe brain injury which left him incapable of work, requiring a 24-hour care regime and various therapies.

Initially, Mr G appointed local solicitors through his mother and Litigation Friend. However, after approximately 10 years and having received only £10,000 in interim payments and with no settlement in sight, it was decided that alternative advice was needed. Mr G’s mother contacted our team and we arranged a meeting at his home. After this meeting, we immediately made an application for an interim payment to fund the assistance of a case manager and support workers in the sum of £150,000.

The claim was settled approximately one year after our teams’ involvement began, for the sum of £3 million, a tenfold increase on the initial offer that was made prior to us taking on the claim.
