Smile4Wessex Dinner set to raise thousands for neurological care

  • Posted

Smile4Wessex is dedicated to raising funds to enhance the range and quality of care and treatment provided at the Wessex Neurological Centre in Southampton.

The Centre is one of the largest and most highly respected neurological centres in the UK and provides acute and specialist care to patients throughout the South Coast of England.

This Saturday (14 October 2017) is Smile4Wessex’s biggest event in its fundraising calendar – the annual Charity Gala Dinner which will take place in Southampton’s prestigious Hilton Ageas Bowl.

Novum Law is a proud sponsor of the event which will raise much needed funds to enable the Neurological Centre to improve its facilities and services for people dealing with conditions such as: brain tumours, brain injuries, stroke, motor neurone disease, dementia and other neurological disorders.

Smile4Wessex’s current fundraising efforts are focused on raising £100,000 for a cutting-edge 3D Endoscope to help surgeons perform skull base procedures and resection pituitary tumours more effectively and easily. Consultants currently use 2D imaging but the 3D technology provides far superior images. You can find out more information about the current appeal here.

We are really looking forward to the Gala and helping to raise even more money for neurological patients throughout the South.

We’ll be joined by Mark and Kathryn Grimes from the Wight Brainy Bunch, a charity husband and wife set up after Mark was diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2015. Following Mark’s diagnosis, they realised that there is very little funding for research into brain tumours and decided to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity, Smile4Wessex and The Fire Fighters Charity, who supported Mark, who is a serving fire fighter, during his recovery.

Also joining us will be the fantastic team from the Island Rehabilitation Practice, a new organisation offering specialist neurological rehabilitation services based on the Isle of Wight.

The Gala promises to be a great evening with guests enjoying a sparkling drinks reception, a three course meal and after dinner entertainment provided by the Strand Band, one of the South’s best party bands and long time supporters of Smile4Wessex. As guests enjoy the food and entertainment, we hope that lots of money will be raised for the wonderful, pioneering work of the Wessex Neurological Centre.
