‘Travel like you know them’: Road safety made personal

Visitors to Novum Law’s Swindon offices this Friday (13 May 2016) could be forgiven for wondering what on earth is going on when they see everyone from Partners to paralegals donning their silliest, wackiest hats! But it’s all in a good cause to raise much-needed funds for local families living with brain injuries.
We’ve teamed up with fantastic charity Headway Swindon & District which helps local people who have suffered a brain injury and offers advice and assistance to their families and carers.
‘Hats for Headway Day’ is part of the national Action for Brain Injury Week (9-13th May 2016), an entire week designed to increase awareness of the devastating effects of brain injury and the impact it has on whole families.
Headway Swindon & District is hoping that as many local businesses, schools and community organisations as possible will get behind the initiative, channel their creativity and wear their funniest, strangest, most bizarre hats for one day in return for a donation to the charity.
Our very own Anna Cole, Partner at Novum Law and Chairman of Headway Swindon & District since 2009, said: “Hats for Headway Day is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to have a bit of fun while helping local people who have been affected by a brain injury. We want everyone to know that just by wearing a wacky hat for the day and donating a small amount of money, they can really make a difference, helping to support Headway’s work by improving the lives of brain injured people in Swindon and throughout the wider region.
“At Novum Law we regularly help people and their families who have been affected by brain injuries and so Headway is a charity that is very close to all our hearts. Brain injury can affect anyone at any time, regardless of age, gender or lifestyle and can have significant implications for survivors and their families. It can be caused by an injury or accident or through illness such as suffering a stroke, brain haemorrhage or infection.
“Headway has a vital role to play in helping and supporting victims and their families cope with the often devastating effects of brain injury, providing information and support and services, including rehabilitation activities. We hope that as many people as possible will join us in dusting off their hat boxes and donning their wackiest headgear in support.”
If you fancy having a go, it’s not too late to join in the fun. You can sign up your business, school or group for Hats for Headway Day by emailing Catherine Brown at: Catherine@headwayswindon.org.uk or telephone the Headway team on: 01793 674 820.
If you’d like to make a donation to Headway Swindon & District you can either post a cheque, donate via www.justgiving.com/headwayswindon or text HATS13 followed by the amount you wish to donate to 70070.
