The team at Novum Law are delighted to be once again recognised as one of the best personal injury law firms in the South West by the leading, independent legal...
Novum Law was delighted to support motorcycle charity Doc Bike Dorset’s second annual charity ride out, which took place on Sunday, 25 September, at Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance’s base.
A record 400 plus bikers took part in the ride out with 2 optional routes – one starting at Bournemouth’s West Bay and 1 at the popular The Churchill Arms near Cranborne in Dorset, finishing at Henstridge Airfield close to Wincanton, Somerset.
Bikers were welcomed to the airfield with a range of refreshments, a selection of stalls to browse (including Novum Law’s stand packed with free goodies!), a grand raffle with some amazing prizes kindly donated by local businesses in Dorset, including a £300 and £200 cash prize from Novum Law for 2 lucky winners. The bikers were also treated to some excellent live music from Bournemouth-based band ‘The Hardcore Troubadours’.
Senior Litigation Executive Alan Jolliffe from our Southampton team and marketing colleagues Deborah and Lottie spent the day manning Novum Law’s stall and speaking to bikers and volunteers. Alan says:
“We really enjoyed the Doc Bike charity ride out and would like to thank Doc Bike for organising a brilliant event. On such a beautiful sunny Sunday, it was great to be out supporting such an important cause and having the opportunity to chat to riders and members of organisations such as the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance about motorbike safety and how we can help if the worst happens and a biker is seriously injured in a crash. We are looking forward to more Doc Bike events in the future.”
Motorcycle injury prevention
Novum Law Director Tim Blackwell from our Southampton team is a trustee of Doc Bike. The charity works to eradicate motorcycle deaths through engagement, injury prevention, education, research, and roadside critical care.
All DocBike’s riders are serving doctors, paramedics or other medical practitioners who volunteer to help motorcyclists as they know the devastation that can be caused by a motorcycle collision. Their work includes training on how to potentially provide life-saving support if you witness or arrive at the scene of a crash.
Tim says:
“Over 19,000 motorcyclists are injured in collisions every year. Doc Bike helps save lives – from research into crash prevention to providing road safety education, training, and critical roadside care.
“As a specialist personal injury law firm, we are proud to support Doc Bike’s vital work, but more money is needed to put more Doc Bikes and ‘DocBikers’ on the road. In fact, it costs around £50,000 to put a bike on the road with all the lifesaving equipment on board. That’s why fundraising events like this are so important and why Novum Law is keen to support them as much as possible.”
