What are the most common farming accidents?
Over 300,000 people in Britain work in the agricultural sector today. Many farmers and farm workers were raised in farming families or communities and are proud of the rewarding work...
Last week, Novum Law directors Lynn Yeates, Peter Hilditch and Graeme Chisholm along with solicitor Alison Sayers successfully climbed London’s iconic O2 building to raise money for the asbestos support and awareness group, HASAG.
As part of ‘Team HASAG and friends’ and kitted out in safety harnesses and boots, the four enjoyed a challenging climb to the top of the domed roof of the O2 on a purpose-built walkway some 52 metres above ground level.
There was jubilation all round and a champagne celebration when the team reached the summit after a climb which took around an hour and a half to complete.
HASAG organised the challenge to raise much needed funds for research and support to help people diagnosed with asbestos-related diseases and their families.
The goal of the event was to help HASAG reach the incredible half a million pounds mark – the total amount of fundraising money achieved since the charity launched 12 years’ ago. And there was cause for further celebrations when it was announced that Team HASAG and friends had smashed the target!
Lynn Yeates said: “Congratulations to HASAG and everyone who has supported the charity over the years on achieving half a million pounds to help those affected by exposure to deadly asbestos fibres just by going about their everyday lives.
“It was an incredible and emotional experience to be part of Team HASAG and friends and to challenge ourselves by climbing up and over the top of the famous white, domed roof of the O2!
“We were all initially a little bit nervous before we set out – it’s not every day you decide to scale one of London’s most famous landmarks but we soon got into our stride and were able to really enjoy the walk and the company of our fellow team members.
“It was a bit windy up there but we had the most amazing views across London and it was interesting to watch the hustle and bustle of London life far below us and take in the views.”
Lynn is a long time supporter of HASAG which was co-founded by Lynne Squibb in 2006 following the death of her beloved father, Dave Salisbury, who had been suffering from mesothelioma.
Over the years, Lynn and her fellow Novum Law director Peter Hilditch, along with colleagues, have raised thousands of pounds to support HASAG’s vital work.
It’s hoped that the fundraising total will keep rising so that even more people affected by exposure to asbestos can benefit from their services.
