Novum Law’s specialist asbestos and mesothelioma team has retained its place on the prestigious Mesothelioma UK legal panel for a further two years.
The legal panel was established in April 2020 to provide a quicker, more effective way for people diagnosed with mesothelioma and their families to get quality legal advice. It also provides help with access to civil claim payments, government compensation schemes and applying for benefits.
Novum Law is one of 8 law firms originally selected to join the panel due to its depth of experience and proven track record in helping mesothelioma patients and their families secure compensation. A further 4 law firms have now been added to the panel.
Mesothelioma UK’s important work
Sadly, around 2,700 people are diagnosed with mesothelioma in the UK each year – and this number is rising.
Mesothelioma is an incurable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos, which mainly affects the lining of the lungs. Symptoms usually take many years to develop and can include dry cough or wheezing, shortness of breath, chest or abdominal pains, and fever or night sweats.
Mesothelioma UK is a national charity dedicated to providing specialist information, support, and education, and improving care and treatment for all UK mesothelioma patients and their carers.
The charity promotes the development of specialist mesothelioma nursing practice and funds over 30 Clinical Nurse Specialist posts in NHS hospitals around the UK.
The specialist care provided by Mesothelioma UK nurses is not only leading the way in audit, research and clinical trials, it is also having an incredible impact on driving up standards of care across the UK.
