Anna Cole has been the Chairman for Headway Swindon and District since 2009. She was asked to participate in a Q&A session for the most recent Headway newsletter:

What attracted you to being a trustee at Headway?

Through my work as a lawyer, I meet many people who have had head injuries. Volunteering at Headway enables me to give something back by helping and supporting individuals, families and carers affected by traumatic and acquired brain injuries.

What do you do as a Trustee?

My role as one of the Trustees is to set and maintain the vision and values of Headway. We help to develop the strategy and establish and monitor policies to make sure that Headway complies with its full legal requirements. We report to stakeholders, clients, staff and volunteers. One of our most important tasks is to ensure that Headway’s resources are carefully managed to meet its objectives.

What do you enjoy most about your role here?

Without a doubt, it is the people I’ve had the opportunity to work with. Not only our fantastic clients, families and carers; but the wonderful Headway staff and volunteers. Their dedication and enthusiasm is truly inspiring and it is extremely rewarding and a privilege to work alongside them.

Are there any exciting plans you can tell us about? Yes! This year, we are looking for a new home for Headway as we are getting too big for our current premises in Upper Stratton. We have started our search for a suitable new Swindon base so that we can continue to meet demand for Headway’s services in our local area. Larger premises will enable us to offer new opportunities and services to improve the lives of people with brain injuries and help their families and carers.
