A man suffering from the asbestos related cancer, mesothelioma, has reportedly issued a plea to his former work colleagues.
David Greenwood worked for 44 years with Ellison Circlips Limited at their sites in Keighley, Harden, and Bingley.
It is reported that Mr Greenwood claims that when he worked for the company, which also had a number of previous other names, he was exposed to asbestos dust. He is not asking his former work colleagues to come forward to give more information about the working conditions present at the time.
Mr Greenwood is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment, which has left him feeling weak and he has lost his appetite.
Andrew Stinchcombe of Novum Law comments “this is another sad reminder that exposure to asbestos dust many decades ago can cause the incurable disease of mesothelioma to develop many years later. We have still not seen the peak of mesothelioma cases in the UK, which now causes around 2500 deaths per year. It is also important to remember that asbestos is still present in some old buildings, and should only be disturbed by specialists”.
