Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021

  • Posted

Baby Loss Awareness Week (#BLAW21) is a campaign to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby loss and an opportunity for those affected to remember and commemorate their babies’ lives.

Throughout this week, charities and support groups have been working together to raise awareness of bereaved parents’ issues.

Their goal is to highlight the need to reduce preventable deaths, boost research into pregnancy and baby loss and improve bereavement care.

The theme for Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021 is wellbeing and what this means to people who have been affected by pregnancy and baby loss.

It is about coming together as a community to give anyone touched by pregnancy and baby loss a safe and supportive space to share their experiences and feel that they are not alone.

For many parents and families, finding a way to remember their baby is essential for their sense of wellbeing.

While there is no right or wrong way to cope after baby loss, some bereaved families find comfort with others at special services organised by their hospital or a local support organisation. Others prefer to commemorate their baby’s life alone.

Legal advice after the loss of a baby

Sadly, our specialist solicitors are approached for help from people who have suffered a miscarriage or lost a baby due to medical negligence.

While baby loss due to medical negligence is rare if it does happen, bereaved parents often have many questions about how they lost their baby. They ask our expert pregnancy negligence and birth injury lawyers for support, getting answers from healthcare professionals.

Parents and families may have serious concerns that the medical treatment they or their baby received was below standard, and they may suspect negligent mistakes were made. Discovering their baby’s death could have been prevented can cause further anguish and heartbreak.

In these tragic cases, people need honest, straightforward answers from the doctors, nurses, and midwives they trusted. Often, they ask that lessons are learned so that no one else suffers as they have.

At Novum Law, our team of compassionate and experienced lawyers can help bereaved families get the answers they need. Our specialist team can investigate the case, identify the cause of your baby’s death, and establish if negligence played a part in what happened.

If the loss of your baby is due to a negligent standard of care, we can secure compensation for your pain and suffering, and we may also be able to claim for the psychological impact of your baby’s death.
