Action Mesothelioma Day 2018 – a time for reflection

  • Posted

Action Mesothelioma Day 2018, an annual day to raise awareness and pay tribute to everyone whose lives have been affected by the asbestos-related disease mesothelioma, takes place today (Friday 6 July).

All over the country, asbestos support groups large and small will be coming together with individuals dealing with the disease on a daily basis and their families to reflect and raise awareness of this incurable cancer caused by exposure to deadly asbestos fibres.

Andrew Walker, a specialist asbestos disease solicitor, from Novum Law’s Plymouth office commented: “Sadly, mesothelioma causes the death of an estimated 2,500 people per year in the UK alone. What’s surprising to many is that the exposure to asbestos can occur several decades before individuals actually become ill. It’s a horrible disease which causes significant suffering for individuals and their loved ones and the more we can do to raise awareness and provide support to those affected, the better.”
