Read moreIt is reported that a single mother is suffering from the asbestos related disease of mesothelioma. Kirsty List, who is 33 years old, has stated that the cause of her illness is a mystery.
Kirsty has a 5 year old daughter, Aimee. Kirsty was diagnosed with mesothelioma, an incurable cancer of the linings of the organs, after she felt unwell in September 2015.
Doctors discovered a tumour around her gallbladder when they attempted to remove her gallbladder during surgery. A tumour biopsy was performed and six weeks later she was told the diagnosis.
Kirsty reportedly believes that she was possibly exposed to asbestos either when she was a pupil at a school in Reading or North Devon or while she was working in pubs. Kirsty is suffering from peritoneal mesothelioma, which is a cancer of the lining of the abdomen. Kirsty has tried five different types of chemotherapy but has reported that none are working to any great extent. She is now receiving palliative care.
Andrew Stinchcombe at Novum Law comments “this is a very sad example of the legacy that asbestos can leave. It can take decades for asbestos diseases to develop after the exposure to asbestos has occurred. Unfortunately, in some cases, the cause of the exposure to asbestos, remains unknown. This is another sad reminder that asbestos should not be disturbed and if it is identified, specialists should be called in to assess the extent of the danger”.
